Thousands joined the Nakba-Demo on 18th of May 2024, which started at Oranienplatz in Berlin-Kreuzberg. Also different anarchist and autonomous groups called for an anarchist/autonomous participation in the Nakba-Demo, like the “Anarchists and Autonomous from the Neighborhoods” and the “Perspektive Selbstverwaltung”. Already at Oranienplatz the Cops started with violence and repression, by arresting a person, who had an Palestine flag with a raised-fist-logo on it, because when the cops see ANY fist-logo, they try to link it to the forbidden Samidoun-Logo, which also has a fist inside.
After some Palestine dance at the place, the demo started and at the very beginning an anarchist/autonomous block started to materialize itself as one of the last blocks.
It must be said, that the anarchist/autonomous block was somehow dynamic, there was some pyrotechnics and some people of the block tried a “breakout” from the demo route to shorten the way, when the police did stop to often the demo.
The demo couldn’t walk to the end, because the police did intervene before the end very violently because of the same bullshit they are doing every time. There the anarchist/autonomous block was dissolved and people joined the resistance at the front.
The mobilization to the demo was combined by stencil-, graffiti- and banner drop actions in the nights before. There were also calls for decentralized actions for the Nakba Day 15th of May, and the cops had to be everywhere in the city. But they couldn’t stop the spontaneous protest-Demo in the Sonnenallee in Neukölln, where pyrotechnics and barricades was burned in defense against the brutal and racist cops.
The small anarchist/autonomous Block in the Nakba-Demo was since the start of the protests against the genocide the first more organized and more visible and obvious participation of parts of the anarchist and autonomous scene in the pro-Palestine Protests in Berlin.
