On the eve of 1 May, over 3,500 FLINTA* marched from Berlin-Kreuzberg to Friedrichshain under the slogan “Take Back The Night”. There, the queer-feminist demonstration was self-determinedly dissolved. The demonstration was accompanied by a martial contingent of cops. Various news sources reported on firecrackers, egg throwing and the use of smoke and bengalo pyrotechnics.
Content-wise, it was about the common ground of the international struggles and the struggles here against the oppression of FLINTA* (women, lesbians, inter, non-binary, trans* and agender people), “Because the interweaving of capitalism, colonialism and patriarchy creates the conditions to oppress, domesticate and murder FLINTAS* worldwide. We stand in solidarity with all oppressed people everywhere!” (TBTN 2025 demo call)
In a speech at the demo by Anarchists4Palestine the importance of listening to and learning from each other was emphasised:
“We who are downgraded and weakened by patriarchy are having such different experiences with different forms of oppression. Let’s listen and learn from each other. Let’s resist and hold those accountable who take our dignity and who create this militaristic world!
In Palestine, in Germany, in Congo, in Sudan, in Rojava, in Turtle Island, in Aiyiti, in Kanaky, in Kashmir, in Okinawa, in Western Sahara – all over the world!”
The demo also showed solidarity with four pro-Palestinian activists whom the Berlin Senate wants to deport and criticised the police violence against Palestine demonstrations in particular.
Speech by Anarchists4Palestine at Take Back The Night Demo 30.04.2025
Let’s make this night a moment for our anger and collectivity.
In the logic of a society that is based on separation, isolation, militarisation, and competition, as it is in germany, the fight for just and self-determined life is being called “terror”. We see this injustice and we see the act of giving lives different values in the genocides that are being committed by imperialist states. In Palestine, tens of thousands of people are being killed – but the media only tells us the name of some individuals?
Fascists try to shift the blame for things like mass murder, ethnic cleansing, deadly border policies, and racist policing onto artificial intelligence claiming that AI is making decisions about who lives or dies. But it is humans, governments, institutions, and corporations that direct, sign off of, and profit from these politics of death and torture.
The horror of the daily genocide is an endless apocalypse for Palestinians – This must stop immediately! Meanwhile, in the belly of the imperialist beast, those who dare to resist against the support of what is going on are heavily criminalized and brutalized, facing beatings, arrests, losing their jobs and housing, being seriously injuried, facing trials, deportations, and more.
It’s hard to hope in all this shit. But hope, determination, and faith in the resistance is what we have left. We find it in our collectives, on the streets on days like today with you, in community, and in organizing. Organizing, that unwieldy word that fills theories and ends calls. Simply put, we have found community and solidarity in this organizing. Because this feeling has such a strong effect against the isolation of this capitalist and colonial society. There is a collective experience of oppression that we can transform into a struggle. From this powerlessness comes the ability to act, which creates structures for ourselves and others, and from this comes the ability to transform the world around us, the conditions of oppression, and towards liberation for all.
We who are downgraded and weakened by patriarchy are having such different experiences with different forms of oppression. Let’s listen and learn from each other. Let’s resist and hold those accountable who take our dignity and who create this militaristic world!
In Palestine, in Germany, in Congo, in Sudan, in Rojava, in Turtle Island, in Aiyiti, in Kanaky, in Kashmir, in Okinawa, in Western Sahara – all over the world!
We want us all fighting, we want us all living! We want to take back this and every night together. We want to take back every day and reclaim and shape our future free of oppression.
Take care and rise your voice and deeds against those who plan this genocide, carry it out, condone it, accept it, and profit from it!
In love and rage
