Statement by Hamja Ahsan against the repression

My prison sentence in Germany. 1st Documenta 15 artist to face imprisonment.

For 2 Facebook comments written in 2022 during Documenta, whilst living in London, England whilst commenting on British newspapers the Guardian and the Daily Telegraph calling Boris Johson and more to the point Olaf Scholz “two pigs” and a “neoliberal fascist pig”. Reported to the police by German-Israel society head Volker Beck. Also a few tweets replies to an FDP politician Stefan Naas who wanted me silenced at Documenta and held zionist rallies outside my exhibition venues with Antideutsche groups.

These people incited hate against me all documented on #documentahate which I endured for months during and before Documenta 15. I had my exhibition venue vandalised before the exhibition open and sprayed with Neo-Nazi graffiti, death threats, violent threats, threats to burn my art and deport me, anti-Muslim racist abuse daily, also head hunted by AfD. But I as the victim of this violent racist abuse, am the only one charged. Germany today. Because I support Palestine Solidarity and BDS I was targeted. The CDU Uwe Becker (who dresses up as an Israeli cop for fun) also incited against me in the BILD Axel Springer press saying I should be banned from all public platforms in Germany.

My lawyers introduced by ELSC were Nadija Samour and then Alexander Gorski who represented me at trial getting the 12000 euro fine to 4000 euros. (So may have been a 150 day prison sentence?) Then I got fine 468.50 euros more for making an appeal.

50 days in Frankfurt prison in the state of Hesse which hosts Documenta 15.
