Supermarkets Berlin: Sticker actions for raising awareness about ‘Israel’ colonialism

by: Pro Palestine sticker collectors

In recent weeks, we have carried out some sticker actions in supermarkets, placing pro-Palestinian stickers next to products from ‘Israel’.

Over the years, we have accumulated more and more stickers against genocide and for a free Palestine. Therefore, the idea arose to use them not only on the streets and in other places, but directly where most people have to go: in supermarkets.

In many countries, there are boycott action groups, such as the well-known groups in Northern and Southern Ireland, which carry out weekly actions in supermarkets by removing all ‘Israeli’ products from the shelves and at the same time loudly inform customers about it.

It is evident that we should boycott all products from ‘Israel’ because of the ongoing genocide against the Palestinians and the continued expansion of their war for a so-called ‘Greater Israel’.

But it is also about raising awareness on the issue that many products, such as vegetables and fruits, are produced in illegal settlements like in the West Bank, where brutal land grabs are escalating. Normally, these goods must be explicitly labelled as ‘originating from Israeli settlements,’ but often this is not the case in order to camouflage the fact that these come from illegal settlements.

There is also this app “No thanks” for Android and Apple, which you can download from alternative app stores. By scanning the barcode, you can find out not only whether a product comes from ‘Israel’ or its illegal settlements, but also whether the company behind it generally supports ‘Israel’ and its ongoing genocides and wars.

Our tip is not to always post photos of the stickers in supermarkets, or at least not immediately, so that the stickers can sometimes stay there longer. It’s also cool to stick stickers not only on the shelves, but also on the products themselves — if these are small stickers, customers might take them home without noticing them at first sight.

We would like to encourage more groups and individuals to put pro-Palestinian stickers in supermarkets next to or at ‘Israeli’ products. It’s super easy, it’s effective and you can easily avoid cameras.

Let’s raise awareness for the boycott of ‘Israel’!
Just do it!
